A prophet identified as Destiny Onwudinjo, has been sentenced to seven years in jail after he pleaded guilty to attempting to escape from assault trial.
It was learnt that the convict suddenly jumped from the dock and ran out from the Ejigbo Court where he was facing criminal charge of fraud and assault for brutalizing one Chika Izuogu, an okada rider who refused to pay him N120,000 for deliverance prayer at Olukosi Street, Shasha, Lagos State.
Some of the representatives of the prosecution and court officials went after the self acclaimed pastor and rearrested him.
According to reports, the prophet told the victim that God revealed to him that the man needed to embark on seven days deliverance prayer so that his condition would improve for the better. Izuogu was promised a divine blessing from God.
The prophet added that an unknown person would give the Okada man N3million with which his life would change entirely.
The prophet explained to Izuogu that the money he asked him to pay covered the fasting and other spiritual materials to be used for deliverance.
The man was finally convinced but told Onwudinjo that he would do the fasting by himself because he did not have the required amount to give him.
As a result, a fight was said to have ensued and Onwudinjo beat up and injured Izuogu.
It was gathered that neighbours alerted the police which eventually led to the arrest.
