Labour Party Exposes Expelled Youth Leader’s Plot to Sabotage Election Case

Must read

ABUJA, Nigeria – The Labour Party issued a disclaimer on Sunday, April 25, 2023 against its expelled former national youth leader, Anselem Eragbe, accusing him of continuing to issue fake statements in the name of the Party.

The acting national publicity secretary of Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh, has urged the public to disregard any information originating from Eragbe, who has been allegedly working with the APC to scuttle the chances of the Labour Party candidate in reclaiming his mandate at the court.

Ifoh stated, “We have it on good authority that Mr. Anselem Eragbe has been heavily compromised to work against the interest of the party in our efforts to reclaim the mandate given to the party at the last Presidential election wherein Nigerians freely made their choice on who presides over the affairs of this nation but was snatched by power hungry cabal, a development we are working tirelessly to redress in the courts.”

The former youth leader is accused of attacking the activities of the party, especially concerning the ongoing court cases.

Ifoh said, “It is really abnormal that he has resorted to self-help instead of allowing the court to give judgement to the cases before it; he has continued to peddle spurious and unsubstantiated lies.”

In response to Eragbe’s allegations of forgery against the national chairman, Ifoh pointed out that the matter is already in court and any further peddling of lies amounts to contempt of court.

He added that the police report Eragbe claims to have is of no value since the police made the report without hearing from the accused or seeking legal advice.

The Labour Party believes that Eragbe’s false claims and actions attempt to destabilize the party and hinder their candidates in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa states.

Ifoh reiterated that the party has no interest in out-of-court settlements, preferring to settle the case in court once and for all.

He accused Eragbe and his group of being agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and urged members of the public to discountenance their lies.

The Labour Party also called on journalists to seek news balance before publishing stories related to Eragbe and his group, reminding them that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Labour Party decided their fate on April 18, and they are no longer members of the NWC of the party.
