The Kogi State commissioner for land, Steven Mayaki, was on Sunday, May 31, 2015 abducted by five gunmen at his Kogi State farm located in Osara village, Adavi Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to newsmen while pleading anonymity said that the gunmen had followed the commissioner to his farm that morning in a Prado Jeep, abducted him and drove off.

According to the Kogi State Police Public Relations officer, Mr. Adebayo Collins, who confirmed the kidnap said, “It is true the commissioner was kidnapped but the command is on top of the matter.” He also added that the police were doing everything possible to make sure the commissioner came back unhurt.

The commissioner’s abduction came on the heels of Justice Samuel Obayomi, a High Court judge in Kogi State, kidnap on Monday, May 25, 2015.
