Katsina Secures Another N50 Billion Loan From Nigerian Gov’t

Katsina has declared that the Federal Government has approved N50 billion loan to enable it to finance some major projects in the State.

Faruk Jobe, the commissioner of budget, disclosed this during the 2021 citizen budget sensitisation workshop at Old Government House, Katsina.

He said the loan, which is part of the 2021 budget, will be used to complete ongoing projects and embark on new ones.

According to him: “The ongoing project includes Green Economic Zone, Ajiwa waterworks, road project, rehabilitation of General Hospitals, among others.

“Part of the loan will be used to construct under-by pass project at Kofar Kaura and Kofar Kwaya junction.

“We experienced a shortfall of money from Federation Account and internally generated revenue to finance 2021 budget.

“The N50 billion will assist us to complete some ongoing major projects and take-off of new ones before the end of this year, without this loan we cannot finance our budget.”

Jobe appealed to residents to ensure prompt payment of taxes to assist the government in providing social amenities.

He said the sensitisation conference was organised to collect demands on project from people of the state on 2012 budget.

Isah Lawal Kuraye, a member representing Charanchi Local Government, said the Assembly will closely monitor the utilisation of the loan by the government.
