Kano State Pension Fund Reclaims 324 Properties in Landmark EFCC Forfeiture Win

ABUJA, Nigeria — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, announced on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, that it has secured the final forfeiture of 324 properties recovered for the Kano State Pension Fund Trustees.

The decision, reached by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja, marked a significant win for the anti-graft agency in its ongoing fight against corruption.

Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman for the EFCC, confirmed that the properties were “reasonably suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities of Kano State Pension Fund Trustees.”

The confiscated properties include 168 Sheikh Ja’afar Mahmud Adam Bandirawo City, 122 Sheikh Nasiru Kabara (Amana City), and 38 houses in Sheikh Khalifa Ishaq Rabiu City, all located in Kano.

Uwujaren detailed the types and quantities of housing units within each location in a statement.

The 168 properties in Sheikh Ja’afar Mahmud Adam Bandirawo City consist of various multi-bedroom units, including duplexes and semi-detached homes.

Similarly, the 122 houses in Sheikh Nasiru Kabara feature a mix of two to four-bedroom units, while the 38 houses in Sheikh Khalifa Ishaq Rabiu City primarily include three and four-bedroom bungalows and duplexes.

Uwujaren added, “The 168 houses at Sheikh Ja’afar Mahmud Adam Bandirawo City are made up of 55 units of 2-bedroom semi-detached houses; 51 units of three-bedroom houses; seven units of three-bedroom converted; 17 units of three-bedroom carport; three units of four-bedroom duplex; nine units of five-bedroom duplex and 22 units of three-bedroom green-roof.”
