KANO, Nigeria – Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano state, in a bid to reclaim public properties allegedly illegally sold by the previous administration, has annulled the sales of Hasiya Bayero Paediatric Hospital and the Governor’s lodge situated in Kwankwasiyya City.
Governor Yusuf led a delegation of high-ranking government officials on an inspection of the two sites, and called for the immediate renovation of the health facility and its reinstatement as a specialist hospital serving the medical needs of numerous children in the state and beyond.
In a statement on Monday, June 5, 2023, issued by the chief press Secretary, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, the governor expressed dismay at how the past administration sold the properties to their cabals for their personal gain.
The statement read, “As promised during electioneering processions, we will not relent in reclaiming public properties either mis-managed or sold via shoddy deals, and what is reclaimed will be judiciously utilized for the benefit of the people of the state.
“I am announcing the revoking of the sales of Hasiya Bayero Paediatric hospital and the Governor’s lodge at Kwankwasiyya city that is hosting the office of Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON). The health facility should be renovated and revert to its operations of health care delivery to children,” the statement added.
