Kaduna Police Chief Armoury Suspected Of Gun Running Commits Suicide In Detention

A chief armourer with the Kaduna State Police Command, Nambol Audu, committed suicide in the early hours of Friday, October 31, 2014 the police authorities reports.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police was arrested on Monday, October 27, 2014 for allegedly stealing firearms and attempting selling them to criminals.

He was reportedly shot himself on the chest while in detention in the early hours of Friday, October 31, 2014.

The state Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu, who confirmed the incident, said preliminary investigation had revealed that Audu shot and killed himself.

How he got the gun with which he shot himself has however remain unclear, ashe was in the police custody as of the time he committed suicide.

The deceased and two others were on Monday, October 27, 2014 arrested as they drove into the police armoury at night where they have already loaded firearms into a private vehicle for onward transfer away from the station.

The suspects were paraded before journalists during the week in Kaduna, as the commissioner said the security men on guard suspected foul play and stopped the vehicle from leaving the premises.

According to the commissioner, “ upon interrogation, Audu could not give satisfactory account of his action.”
