Kaduna State Government has suspended resumption of schools in the state till further notice.
The state commissioner of education, Shehu Usman Muhammad, disclosed this on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, saying that the government is still assessing the COVID-19 pandemic with keen interest and will announce the opening of schools only when it deems it safe for students and teachers.
Muhammed made it clear that the safety of students and teachers is very important to the state government.
He said: “The State Government will review the state of Covid-19 cases before fixing a date for resumption.
“We are still assessing the COVID-19 pandemic with keen interest and will issue a statement when the government deems fit and safe for students to resume.
“So, we are yet to fix date for resumption of schools. If we observe that, the figures of the Covid-19 cases are coming down, certainly we will be eager to open schools, but if the figures continue to rise, certainly we will not be in haste to open schools.”
