Police Does Not Have Capacity To Fight Bandits – Governor El-Rufai

Must read

Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, on Friday, April 23, 2021, said the menace of banditry is beyond the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

El-Rufai made the remark while stressing that the Army, Nigerian Air Force, NAF, and Nigerian Navy should be deployed to effectively tackle banditry.

Featuring on Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, El-Rufai said schools should be constructed around military formations in the state.

He noted that bandit attacks can be foiled if military operatives are informed within 30 minutes.

El-Rufai said, “Schools should be located no farther than 30 minutes from military installations because what we are facing with the bandits is beyond the capacity of civil defence and police. We need the army, the air force, and navy special forces.

“We have looked at the pattern of abduction in Kaduna and Zamfara, and have come to a conclusion, along with armed forces that if the army, air force, and navy special forces can get to the location of the schools within 30 minutes, their (bandits’) operations can be foiled.”
