Must read

Heavily armed militants attacked the campaign office of embattled All Progressives Congress, APC, Shehu Sani senator in Kaduna Central District on Saturday, December 3, 2016.

According to reports, the assailants “stormed the property” while supporters of the senator, who has been in a running battle with Kaduna governor, Nasir El Rufai, were holding a meeting.

It is unclear if shots were fired at the scene of the invasion, but on sighting the militants, the supporters of the Sani dispersed in confusion.

Nobody was killed in the attack.

Kaduna State Police Command spokesman, Aliyu Usman, was yet to respond to calls and text messages asking for comment on the incident.

Senator Sani was suspended indefinitely by the APC in Kaduna State. He has been a vocal opponent of the Kaduna governor.

Governor Nasir El Rufai, last week confessed to Vanguard Newspapers that his government had been making payments to the Fulani herdsmen militia in countries across Africa. He said that the people who were paid were those killing Nigerians in Southern Kaduna and that the payments were made to stop the killings.
