Violence broke out in the Oshodi area of Lagos State and has reportedly spread fast through Maryland and Costain areas of the metropolis.
The Trent gathered that the riot broke out in the early riot hours of Thursday, March 26, 2015 and has caused serious pandemonium in the affected areas till press time.
A gang of densely armed thugs were said to have laid siege in the Oshodi area at about 6am with machetes, guns and other weapons.
They were clad in hoods and shot sporadically while harassing several residents who lifted their hands before they were allowed to escape the terror of the miscreants.
Unconfirmed reports have it that the violence has also spread into the Costain and Maryland areas of the state.
The root of the melee is yet unclear although it is believed to be connected with the Presidential elections of Saturday, March 28, 2015.
Meanwhile, no casualties has been yet reported from the incident and there has not been any official statement regarding the incident.
