In anticipation of the 2015 general election, seven members of the federal cabinet of President Goodluck Jonathan have resigned to further their political ambition.
The ministers who resigned are; ministers of state for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro; education, Nyesom Wike; labour, Emeka Wogu; state for Niger Delta Dairus Ishaku; trade and industry, Samuel Ortom; information, Labaran Maku and health, Onyebuchi Chukwu.
The Federal Government made the announcement on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, adding that ministers resigned from their positions to seek the governorship seat in their various states.
