The office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State was on Sunday, August 2, 2015 burnt down by heavily-armed youths suspected to be paid political thugs.
According to eyewitnesses, a starlwart of a certain political party was the leader of the arsonists, who were armed with guns, axes, knives and other dangerous weapons.
Calm has returned to the secretariat as a combined team of Policemen, Soldiers and the Civil Defence have been deployed to the scene.
The road to Mboko, the town where the secretariat is located has also been barricaded by the security agents.
