JUST IN: ICPC Arrests Acting DG Of NABDA For Alleged N400 Million Fraud

The acting Director-General of the National Biotechnology Development Agency, NABDA, Alex Akpa has been arrested by the Independednt Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, for allegedly defrauding the federal government of N400 million.

Akpa was taken to ICPC to answer questions on how the said amount was misappropriated under his watch. He is currently being investigated for abuse of office.

It was alleged that Akpa claimed the money he diverted was an intervention fund for the biotechnology agency and he allegedly shared the money with top management staff of the agency.

ICPC said the offence committed by Akpan whose appointment came in June, is contrary to and punishable under sections 19 and 26 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.
