The inauguration of the incoming National Assembly, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 will go on as planned and has not been postponed as some media platforms have reported.
Several media houses have published news that the inauguration had been postponed so the All progressives Congress (APC) can put their divided house in order as regards their choice for the positions of Speaker of the House of Assembly and Senate President, which has so far been deadlocked.
According to a source close in the office of the clerk, who spoke to The Cable, “The rumour is nothing but propaganda to cause confusion.”
A returning senator also said: “It is just like President Goodluck Jonathan stepping down and President Buhari is not inaugurated. There would be a crisis. The 7th assembly ended last Thursday and legislative business has to resume today, if not there will be crisis.”
