A mum beat her four-year-old son to death because she believed he was gay, a court heard.
Jessica Dutro, 25, is standing trial accused of murdering little Zachary in Portland, Oregon, in 2012.
A court in Washington heard how she sent a Facebook message to her boyfriend Brian Canady saying she knew he was going to be gay.
“He walks and talks like it. Ugh.”
She said Canady would have to “work on” Zachary.
Canady has already pleaded guilty to manslaughter and assault charges in relation to the boy’s death.
He admitted kicking the boy in the abdomen while wearing shoes.
Dutro is accused of beating three of her children, but Zachary was her primary target, The Oregonian reports.
He was taken to hospital where doctors discovered he had suffered tears to his bowel.
He was kept alive for another two days but then died.
