A loud explosion was heard around Kurudu, Jikoyi community in the outskirt of Abuja on the morning of democracy day, May 29, 2014 which threw the community into panic.
Residents were in confusion running to safety suspecting the loud bang was from a bomb blast.
The spokesman for the Nigerian army has assured the people that what they heard was not a terrorist attack.
He explained that the loud bang came after a rock blocking a new road being constructed from Karishi to Apo in the Abuja city centre was blasted with dynamites to help free the road and allow construction to continue.
The residents have been assured of their safety and normalcy has been restored.
