A financier of the dreaded Islamist sect popularly known as Boko Haram had been sentenced 10 years imprisonment with hard labour by Justice Saidu of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos state after a secret trial where everyone was ordered out of the court except for the lawyers and court registrars.
This was revealed in a report by Channels TV on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, which disclosed that the Boko Haram financier was among four suspects tried in camera by the Department of State Security (DSS), before Justice Saliu Saidu
Among the suspects were Adamu Mohammed, Mohammed Mustapha, Bura Husseni and Mohammed Ibrahim who were brought into the courtroom under heavy security.
Although all efforts to get the specific details of the allegations and conviction against the suspects proved abortive, it was learnt that one of the suspects was convicted and sentenced to ten years jail term for sponsoring the insurgents whereas others were convicted.
Also, it was gathered that the prosecutor of the case was Mr. P. Okerinmodu on behalf of the federal government.
Earlier in the year, another judge of the Federal High Court in Lagos, Justice Ibrahim Buba, sentenced three men to 25 years jail term each, after finding them guilty of belonging and participatingin terrorism under the auspices of Boko Haram.
