Another bomb explosion has hit a busy Maiduguri meat market on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 just days after the swearing in ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Boko Haram sect seem to be hell bent on destruction even as the president has sworn to crush the sect.

According to Channels Television, the bomb which was said to have been hidden under a butcher’s table in the market went off at about 1:00pm. The explosion killed travellers and shoppers who were around the vicinity.

Eye witnesses present around the scene as at the time of the explosion said they had heard a loud explosion. Abubakar Mohammed, a student of a college a few meters from the scene told Reuters that “it shook our school building and I had to run away. I saw military vehicles with soldiers moving toward the area.”

More than 50 people have been reported dead from the attack and many more been rushed to the teaching hospital in Maiduguri.

As at the time of filling this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack but the Boko Haram group are suspected to be behind it. Recent attacks seem to be centred in Borno State since the Nigerian Military has succeeded in driving the group out of Adamawa and Benue States.
