The Federal Government on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, revealed that the dinner being organized for the President-elect on Thursday, April 28, 2015, is not in any way a formal handover ceremony as the Friday, May 29, 2015 handover date remains sacrosanct.

Minister of Information, Patricia Akwashiki, who made the clarification said that the dinner will be hosted by President Jonathan for the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, hinting that the President-elect may be conferred with an award.

According to her, all hand over briefs being co-ordinated by Ayim Pius Ayim, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, would be ready by Thursday, May 28, 2015.

Speaking on the sacking of the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, just few weeks before the handover date, she said it was the prerogative of the President to make such decisions and he had done what he felt was necessary.

She went on to assure contractors carrying out Federal Government projects that their contracts was not going to be revoked, adding that if there was a delay in paying their entitlements or slowing down progress on projects, it was as a result of the non assent to the 2015 budget.
