Jimoh Ibrahim is laying claim to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, candidacy in the upcoming governorship poll in the southwestern state. Eyitayo Jegede is the candidate that won the PDP’s primary held in Akure, however.
Ibrahim is sponsored by the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP and he was not chosen in a primary election. But, a court order from controversial federal judge, Okon Abang named him as the candidate of the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission replaced his name with that of Eyitayo in the final list of candidates contesting in the guber poll.
The matter is before the Appeal Court and Supreme Court.
