OSUN – A 400-level Law student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has allegedly taken his own life, following a break up with his lover.
It was gathered that the deceased student identified as Ige Dipo, was found dead in his off-campus residence at Asherifa area on Monday, March 3, 2014.
Dipo left a suicide note for his father, which reads in part: “Father, while reading this message, I would have been gone”, after which he allegedly ingested a poisonous substance.
It was gathered that Dipo had met the lady in question last year and she had been assisting him financially for the past eight months, before calling it quits because she could no longer cope with his poor financial state.
They are both said to be members of the Christ Apostolic Church Fellowship on campus
According to sources, Dipo was emotionally traumatized since his lover called it quits and had threatened to commit suicide if she did not change her mind, which he actually did.
Dipo’s untimely death has been described as mystery by his fellow students, who expressed shock at the development and urged the police to conduct thorough investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding his mysterious death.
Dipo has been described as a person who lived a lonely and studious life, by his fellow students.
His body has reportedly been taken to Ibadan, his home town by his family members.
