Jigawa Judge Sacked Over N50,000 Bribe

The Jigawa State Judicial Service Commission has sacked Justice Safiyanu Muhammad Dabi of the Upper Shari’a Court, Birnin Kudu for collecting a bribe of Fifty Thousand Naira (50,000) from a litigant.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Director of Publicity and Protocol Matters, State Judiciary, Abbas Rufa’i Wangara issued to journalists on Saturday,  April 8, 2023.

He said the judge collected the sum of N50,000 as a bribe when the litigant appeared before him when he was at Upper Shari’a Court, Birnin Kudu.

The statement said following extensive deliberations by the Judicial Service Commission during its 170th meeting, the Commission collectively resolved to compulsorily retire the judge.

The Commission, however, warned staff in the judicial arm to shun all forms of corruption and bribery in the state.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to dealing with any staff found wanting in the discharge of their official assignment.
