Adamawa Man Beats Wife to Death in Jealous Rage

YOLA, Nigeria — A tragic incident has unfolded in Adamawa State, as a man has been arrested for allegedly beating his wife to death after learning of her plans to leave him for another man.

Aminu Abubakar, 56, is accused of dealing the fatal blows to his wife, Nana Fadimatu, 38, in a fit of rage.

The Adamawa Police command arrested Abubakar, a resident of Lelewaji community in Shagari Phase 2 Estate, Yola South Local Government Area.

He was charged with attacking Fadimatu after hearing that she intended to marry a man from a neighboring community the following day.

A statement from the Police headquarters in Yola on Sunday, May 7, 2023, signed by Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Suleiman Nguroje, revealed that Abubakar was arrested for beating Fadimatu “over information she is going to marry another man.”

The statement detailed how the suspect “furiously engaged” the deceased around 10 pm on Friday, May 5, 2023.

According to the statement, Abubakar used a hard object to strike Nana Fadimatu, causing her to fall unconscious. She was later pronounced dead. The police were alerted to the incident by Fadimatu’s intended new husband, Mahmud Rufai of Shagari Annex, Yola South.

In the wake of this heartbreaking incident, the community mourns the loss of Nana Fadimatu and grapples with the shocking actions of Aminu Abubakar. This tragic event has reignited conversations surrounding domestic violence and the need for support systems for those in abusive relationships.
