It’s the PDP, not Jonathan: APC Governor Ahmed Gives Cliche ‘Breakup’ Speech

Worried by the public outcry over the recent defection of five governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), one of the defectors and Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, has clarified that the defection was not a fight against President Goodluck  Jonathan, but against the PDP which had lost all traits of democratic ethos.

Ahmed also said apart from this, the PDP pursues personal interest rather than collective aspirations.

The governor, who made this clarification in Ilorin yesterday during a radio programme, “Focal Point” on privately-owned Royal FM in Ilorin and monitored by THISDAY explained that “the PDP refused to be reinvigorated, reformed and rehabilitated, as the culture of impunity had taken a toll on the party and like minds becoming disenchanted with the developments in the party.”

Meanwhile, in what looked  like the first official comment of the governor since the defection saga, he said: “I and the governors of Adamawa, Kano, Rivers and Sokoto States have found the APC as an enabling platform to advance the cause of our people and other Nigerians.”

He, however, gave an assurance that they remained open to collaborating with the presidency on matters that can advance the development of the country.
