An ISIS recruit, Abu Abdul-Rahman, whose real name was Mark Taylor has ignorantly given away his precise location via his consistent tweet update.
Abdul-Rahman deleted 45 tweets after discovering that posts from his twitter handle is making him susceptible to potential threats.
A researcher from intelligence group iBrado, Jeff Weyers, stated that Abu’s post has been used to pinpoint his location to a house in al-Taqbah, a Syrian town near al-Raqqa, an ISIS stronghold.
Abdul-Rahman left his home country, New Zealand in 2012 and emerged in Syria in Syria in June, 2014.
He claimed on his twitter handle that he was on a one-way trip to Syria, alongside a photo of a burnt passport. He also released a Youtube video in December, 2014 where he was quoted as saying ‘My current location is in Syria and my commitment is for jihad for Allah, and his Messenger’.
Despite previously claiming on Twitter that he has found a new course to pursue in Syria, Abdul-Rahman has reportedly contacted the New Zealand passport office to secure a replacement, but he has not been contacted.
