President Jonathan on Monday, September 8, 2014 met with President of Chad, Idriss Deby in the Chadian capital Ndjamena over the threat of Boko Haram in both countries.
Also present at the meeting was former governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff, who was recently accused of being a major sponsor of the Islamic extremist sect by an Australian national, Stephen Davis who had come to Nigeria to allegedly secure the release of over 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by the sect.
A photograph which was posted online by Reuben Abati, President Jonathan’s special adviser on media and publicity shows Sheriff with President Jonathan and President Deby during their discussions.

This comes on the heels of many Nigerians calling for the investigation of Sheriff, who according to Marilyn Ogar, a spokesperson for the State Security Service (SSS) has been previously investigated on similar charges.
According to a report by Premium Times, the opposition party in the country the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lampooned the President for his “shocking act of indiscretion by hobnobbing with an alleged Boko Haram sponsor”.
