The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Rivers State, nyesom Wike has said that the All progressives Congress (APC) has been put to shame following the recent victories recorded by the Nigerian military in its operation against the Boko Haram insurgent group.
He made the statement on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 while campaigning at Wards 4, 5 and 6 of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, chiding the opposition for not commending the military for its successes in the North East, which in his opinion is proof that the APC was in support of the terror group.
He said: “God has shamed APC by ensuring victory for the Nigerian military. The APC has refused to commend our military because they are not happy. President Goodluck Jonathan will be re-elected because he means well for the country and is committed to the unity of the country. It is in the interest of Nigeria and the South-South that President Jonathan is re-elected.”
He also added that the APC’s pledge to end insurgency in two weeks also indicates that they have reliable contacts with the insurgents
Taking a quick swipe at the APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, Wike said a man who ended democratic rule in Nigeria can not be a promoter of democracy at 73.
