Following the rate of insecurity in Borno state due to the numerous attacks of the Boko Haram insurgents, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has stated that the commission will not distribute the Permanent Voter Card in 15 out of the 25 local government areas of the state.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Tukur Sa’ad who made the announcement said that the commission would distribute the PVCs starting from Friday, and will carry out the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in 12 local government areas in the state, according to Channels reports.
The insecurity which had captured the 15 affected councils places the lives of the INEC staff and other ad hoc staff that would have been deployed to the areas to distribute the PVC’s and CVR’s.
As a result, the commission had resolved to distribute them in only the 12 local government areas that are somewhat safer.
