UMUAHIA, Nigeria — A young female police officer collapsed twice on Monday, May 29, 2023, while participating in a special police march at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Abia State governor, Alex Otti, at Umuahia Township Stadium.
After losing consciousness, she was rushed to a hospital.
The incident happened as the parade was in full swing. The officer first collapsed, managed to rejoin the march, but then collapsed again and lost consciousness. She received immediate medical attention on site.
After regaining consciousness ten minutes later, she was taken to an undisclosed hospital in Umuahia for further care.
The transport was handled by officials from the Nigerian Red Cross and members of the Medical Committee of the Alex Otti Inauguration.
Further details about her condition have not yet been disclosed.
