Schools failed to resume third term academic activities in Ekiti State on Monday, April 20, 2015 following panic that the 19 All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in the State House of Assembly were planning to begin impeachment proceedings against Governor Ayo Fayose.
Governor Fayose had in a state broadcast on Sunday, April 19, 2015 alleged that the APC lawmakers were planning on commencing the impeachment proceedings, urging the people of the state to mobilize themselves and defend his mandate.
The Assembly complex itself was under lock and key as heavily armed policemen cordoned off all major roads linking the complex, with the security agents thoroughly frisking the few vehicles that were allowed passage.
