Expel Okorocha From APC – Imo Elders Group Urges Oshiomhole

Must read

Worried by the brazen anti-party activities being engaged in by Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha against the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, the hierarchy of the party has been urged to expel him without further delay.

Rising from an emergency executive meeting in Owerri on Sunday, December 9, 2018, the Imo APC Elders Council said it would be suicidal for APC to continue to harbor the likes of Okorocha when it was clear that the governor wants to destroy the party from within.

The elders who were reacting to the verbal onslaught against the national chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by Okorocha frowned at what they described as unwarranted and provocative attacks on the leadership of APC by the governor.

Okorocha had earlier alleged that APC has lost 10 million supporters as a result of the leadership style of Oshiomhole. He also claimed that his son in-law, Uche Nwosu, who has defected to Action Alliance, AA, will win the governorship election next year against the APC.

“What other evidence do we need to prove that Okorocha is a saboteur in APC? Half of the House of Assembly members have left APC with his son in-law. It is therefore time for him to leave also”, they maintained.

The elders said it was a mere grandstanding for Okorocha to claim that APC cannot win Imo without him even when it was clear that Imo people have turned their backs on him.

According to the elders, “It is obvious that Okorocha has been working against APC ever since his son in-law lost the governorship primaries, yet he claims he will deliver Imo for president Buhari. Is Buhari in AA?”

The elders declared as incongruous the assertion of Okorocha in working for Buhari while at the same time working against the interest of APC in the State.

They described Okorocha as a selfish politician with a huge ego and expansionist tendencies, reason why Imo people through APC rejected him when he planned a third term through his son in-law.

They wondered why the governor has resorted to insult and denigrate the reputation of Oshiomhole when all that the national chairman did was to merely uphold the will of Imo people expressed through their votes.

“If Okorocha does not have an ulterior motive of needing somebody to protect him against his misdeeds, why is he attacking an innocent man who courageously stood for justice and equity against the impunity and recklessness which are the hall mark of the governor?, they asked.

They urged Comrade Oshiomhole and the national working committee of APC to invoke the relevant sections of the party’s constitution to sanction Okorocha and all those proved to have been engaged in anti-party activities.
