Nigeria’s Super Eagles are preparing for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.
Already, the list of invited players was recently released by Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh.
The new Super Eagles boss is already being criticized in some quarters for excluding players like Watford striker – Odion Ighalo, Chelsea winger – Victor Moses and out-of-favour Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel.
Guardian reports that the former Eagles captain has now explained why he left out the in-form Watford striker. According to Oliseh, he still has Ighalo in his long term plans but doesn’t need him for the Tanzania clash as he already has two quality strikers in Anthony Ujah and Emmanuel Emenike invited for the game.
“But there’s also some big weights in Emenike and Ujah. Emenike, a Nations Cup winner and Ujah, who has scored 10 goals in the German Bundesliga, which is the league of the world champions.
“It is useless inviting three players for one position, pay their flights and everything only to use one or two of them,” Oliseh said.
