Must read

The President, Muhammadu Buhari’s in-laws have been implicated in the N5 billion Internally Displaced People, IDP fund diversion scandal.

According to Herald, one of the companies indicted in the diversion scandal belongs to Alhaji Bachir Sanusi Dantata and his son Bashir Dantata who is an in-law to Mahmann Daura, Buhari’s powerful nephew.

The source further revealed that the company’s name was mentioned yesterday, October 4th in the Nigerian Senate as one of the organisations implicated in the diversion scandal.

The revelation comes as the Nigerian Senate opens an investigation into the scandal of malnourished children in IDP camps and the diversion of funds by highly connected businessmen.

On Tuesday, October 4, 2016, Senator Bashir Babakaka Gabai filed a motion before the Senate noting that despite the huge cash release by the Federal Government and other agencies towards IDP camps, the situation in the camps have worsened still.

He said: “Rather than use the money appropriated for the IDP camps and the Northeast to ameliorate the problems, the focus of the disbursement so far made have been used to feather other interest.”

He further alleged that the diverted funds include an “award of N80.7 million to JMT Global Technologies Ltd for rehabilitation of Police Station in Kwambir, N203.357m to another company, Josman Technologies Limited for removal of invasive plant species along river channels and another N117 million paid to Lintex International for supply of temporary shelters with no record of these shelters anywhere.”
