Rear Admiral Alison Amaechina Madueke (Rtd.), the husband of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to a report by online news platform, SaharaReporters.
Madueke was reportedly arrested on Wednesday morning, February 17, 2016 in Abuja for allegedly laundering more than $600,000 through his personal accounts.
“[Mr. Madueke] was arrested this morning [in Abuja] and released on administrative bail,” an EFCC source reportedly told SaharaReporters.
According to the report, although the retired soldier has been placed on an administrative bail, his passport was seized to prevent him from travelling abroad.
Diezani Alison-Madueke, his wife, is the subject of an investigation which also involves law enforcement officials in the United Kingdom where she is currently resident and receiving treatment for cancer.
