A woman, Mrs Bola Owoeye, has pleaded with he Akoko Customary Court in Ondo State to dissolve her 16-year-old marriage to her middle-aged husband, Ojo Owoeye, because he allegedly neglected his family.
However, Mr Owoeye told the court that he purposely abandoned his wife because of her adulterous lifestyle.
He spilled the can of worms further by telling the court how he caught his wife having sex with his own younger brother.
According to Punch, the defendant who was in support of the divorce said he reported his wife and his younger brother to his mother-in-law, but the latter pacified him.
He said, “My lord, there was a time that I came home from a journey at about 9pm and met my wife naked with only her wrapper around her chest, sitting on my younger brother’s lap.”
The defendant further narrated to the court that he was so mad at his wife’s infidelity to the point that he spoilt her moblie phones following incessant calls from several men.
In his ruling, the court president, Chief Maku Awe, consented the divorce suit and granted the custody of the first and last children, who were 16 and four years old, to the mother while the father was allowed to have the second child, a nine-year-old girl.
They also ordered the defendant to pay his ex-wife N3,000 and N2,000 as monthly feeding allowances for the children in her custody.
