The St. Petersburg court heard unsettling details of the crime, revealing that Khamlovsky, also known by the alias Dmitry Chernyshov, gruesomely dismembered Anastasia’s body and attempted to conceal her death by impersonating her on social media.

For over a week after the murder, Khamlovsky deceitfully managed Anastasia’s online interactions, responding to messages from her concerned friends.

The grim reality came to light on August 10, when a friend’s growing concern led to the discovery of Anastasia’s body in the apartment’s bathtub.

Initially, Khamlovsky claimed that Anastasia had requested him to end her life, citing mental health issues. However, he later confessed to the murder, which began with a stab in the bedroom while Anastasia was turned away from him.

Khamlovsky recounted that she died in his lap, a detail that adds a haunting layer to the already tragic event.

The court’s statement affirmed Khamlovsky’s guilt, stating, “The Frunzensky District Court of St. Petersburg announced the verdict against Dmitry Khamlovsky (Chernyshov), who was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.”

Further investigation into the case indicated that the murder was the culmination of ongoing family conflicts fueled by jealousy.

The Russian United Press Service report detailed the viciousness of the attack, noting that Khamlovsky inflicted “at least 22 stabs with a knife in the head, neck, torso (chest, abdomen), [and] upper limbs of the victim.”
