[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e spend about one-third of our lives in our own bedrooms.
And yet, we do not really give so much thought about the toxins that might be lurking in.
We clean up or health, we clean up our diet. Even out household cleaner can get a makeover in order to kick out all the nasty critters out of the house.
However, the last thing that we usually think about cleaning is the bedroom.
Most people do not understand the importance of keeping their bedroom non-toxic and clean. So, I’m here to convince you and show you the reason as to why you should clean and create a non-toxic, healthy bedroom.
1. Better Sleep
An average adult requires at least 7 to 9 hours of quality sleep for the body to repair itself. The bedroom needs to be a peaceful retreat which should leave you feeling relaxed and calm so that sleep will come easily. Check out Sleepify.co sleep resource with tips on how to improve your sleep quality.
A toxic, untidy room does the exact opposite. You will have a hard time sleeping and cause a lot of negative effects on your overall health. Lack of sleep can increase the chances of depression as well as other serious diseases.
2. Clearer Mind
Tidying your bedroom can also tidy up your mind. Psychologists suggest that a messy room is a common representation of a disorganized mental state. Even if you do not realize it, a disorganized or dirty bedroom may affect your mood negatively and cause depression.
Your bedroom is your personal space— it is where you sleep, wake up and spend a lot of your “me” time.
By keeping your bedroom non-toxic and free of clutters, you remove all types of physical and mental stressors. Less clutter means fewer distractions as well as visual stress. It will not overstimulate your senses, distract you, trigger guilt or make relaxation difficult.
Remember that a sense of order in your environment also helps promote a good sense of order in your mind.
3. No more Allergies
A non-toxic and clean bedroom can help ease your allergies. A few things which accumulate or multiple in rarely cleaned rooms include pet dander, mold, dust mites, and several other allergy-triggering bad guys.
These mostly strive in soft fabrics, mainly the bed, drapery, carpeting and pillows. By cleaning and creating a non-toxic room, you reduce allergens, itchy, watery eyes and sneezing that can help sleep better.
4. Increase Productivity
By creating an organized, non-toxic room, you know where everything is, thus, making you far more efficient in your actions, especially when waking up. Building habits such as cleaning your bed every morning can encourage yourself to start your day off right and makes you feel in control.
A clean room is also a great environment for you to get your work done when needed. Simple things such as putting notes up as a reminder work efficiently if they are not competing for any attention with the rest of the clutters in your room.
5. Saves More Time
Organizing your space and cleaning up your room not only helps you know the stuff and items that you have, but it also helps save more time, because you know where to find a certain item when you need it.
For instance, during the morning, you do not need to search frantically for your blouse, watch, a special pair of shoes as the minutes tick by. Your day will start smoothly and you will be able to make it out of your front door to work or school on time.
6. Improved Relationships
If you ever had a fight with your significant other about the clutter or mess that is left in your wake, then you know that the state of your bedroom can greatly affect your relationship.
No one wants to spend some time in a toxic, unhealthy room, especially if they were not the one which caused it to be that way. So, be considerate with the other person that you share the room with and make sure that you clean up after yourself.
If it is the other way around, then let them know how you feel. A clean, tidy room can help avoid fights and a difficult relationship over simple things.
