A Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting at Ogba, Agege has arraigned a self-acclaimed pastor, Sadeeq Mustapha, for attempting to rape two men.
27-year-old Mustapha, allegedly attempted to forcefully have sexual intercourse with a transporter, Oladimeji Taiwo, and a teacher, Yusuf Idowu, on Friday, October 9, 2015 and Saturday, October 10, 2015 respectively at No 9 Disu Akogun Street, in the Dopemu area of the state.
The two-count charge against the suspect read: “That you, Sadeeq Mustapha, on the 9th day of October, 2015 at 9, Disu Akogun Street, Dopemu, Agege, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by forcefully wanting to have sex with one Oladimeji Taiwo ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 166 (d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, Nigeria, 2011.
“That you, Sadeeq Mustapha, on the 10th day of October, 2015, at about 02.30hrs, at the same place and magisterial district, did forcefully wanted to have sex with one Yusuf Idowu ‘m’ by ordering him to pull off his clothes and committed an offence punishable under Section 166 (d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, Nigeria, 2011″.
One of the victims, Taiwo, told the police, that Mustapha met him in Dopemu area of the state, introduced himself as a pastor and then asked him for road direction around the area.
He reportedly gave him the directions and the self-proclaimed pastor requested to pray for him and the victim took him to his house since he liked o associate wity men of God.
On getting to his house, Taiwo introduced the so-called pastor to his fellow tenants as a brother before they went into prayer session.
According to Taiwo, the pastor blessed a table water he bought on their way home, and they prayed for sometime before the defendant asked him to pull off his trousers and shirt.
He reportedly pulled his clothes off and at some point, he started to notice some suspicious moves by the Mustapha and decided to keep his eyes open in his bid to be alert.
Taiwo further narrated that Mustapha went ahead and ordered him to lie on the floor as they were enterimg a different dimension of the prayer that required that he would lie on top of the person receiving the prayer.
The victim who noticed that the pastor was about to rape him stood up immediately and warned him against such act before he subsequently called off the prayer and allowed him to go freely the next morning as he wouldn’t want to disgrace him in front of his co-tenants after he had introduced him as a brother.
However, he went for work and returned the following morning only to see the suspect in the compound.
He later learnt that the second victim, Idowu, who did not know what transpired between his co-tenant and the supposed pastor, allowed him sleep over in his house.
According to Vanguard, the suspect also allegedly tried to rape him in the same manner he did to Taiwo the previous night.
Taiwo ordered the suspect to leave the house but he proved adamant which prompted him to pick up a machete to attack him before some of their neighbors intervened.
Mustapha refused to leave the house until Taiwo called his uncle who advised him to get the suspect arrested.
Mustapha was later granted bail after he paid the sum of N200,000.
