OBA, Nigeria — Authorities in Anambra State have uncovered over thirty graves in a popular hotel allegedly used for kidnapping and other criminal activities.
The shocking discovery was made by the newly-launched security outfit, Agụnechemba, popularly known as Operation Udo Ga-Achi.
The hotel, identified as Golden Points Hotels and Suites, is located in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.
Once regarded as one of the most prominent establishments in the area, the hotel became the site of a horrifying revelation during a security operation over the weekend.
Shocking Discoveries
Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, led the demolition squad to the two-storey facility.
Speaking at the scene, he disclosed that 35 graves, a shrine, and live bullets were discovered on the hotel’s topmost floor.
Video footage from the operation showed partitioned graves, a shrine used for rituals, and other disturbing exhibits recovered from the premises.
“Our government will not tolerate facilities being used for criminal activities,” Ibezim said.
“Under the Homeland Security Law signed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, any property used for criminal purposes will not only be demolished but also seized by the state government.”

The Demolition
Following the discoveries, the hotel was immediately demolished in accordance with the Homeland Security Law.
The demolition was carried out by state officials in collaboration with the Agụnechemba security outfit.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Ken Emeakyi, assured the public that this was not an isolated action.
“The state government is committed to a sustained crackdown on crime and criminality,” Emeakyi said.
“This is a clear message to criminals that Anambra is no longer a safe haven for their operations.”
A Facility of Horror
The Golden Points Hotels and Suites, registered under the Corporate Affairs Commission with registration number 201966, was known as a bustling hotel in Oba.
However, many rooms in the building were discovered to be in disrepair, with expended bullets found in some of the rooms.
The graves, believed to be linked to ritual killings and other heinous activities, were partitioned on the top floor of the building.
The discovery has sparked outrage and fear in the community.
Public Encouraged to Support Crime-Fighting Efforts
The Anambra State Government has urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their areas.
“This war against crime is for everyone,” Deputy Governor Ibezim stated.
“We need the support of the public to ensure the safety and security of our communities.”
Governor Soludo’s administration has intensified its efforts to combat crime in Anambra State through the enactment of the Homeland Security Law and the establishment of Agụnechemba.
The law empowers authorities to demolish properties linked to criminal activities, a move officials say is aimed at deterring criminals and reclaiming the state’s reputation for peace and security.
The disturbing discoveries at Golden Points Hotels and Suites underscore the challenges authorities face in tackling crime in the state.
However, with the government’s renewed focus and public support, officials hope to make significant progress in eradicating crime and protecting citizens.
More updates on the investigation are expected in the coming days.
