LAGOS, Nigeria – Actress Annie Macaulay made a public acknowledgment of her divorce from musician Innocent “2Baba” Idibia at the 17th Headies Awards on Sunday, April 27, 2025, ending months of speculation and silence on the matter.
While co-presenting the award for Best Afrobeat Singer of the Year alongside Farooq Oreagba, better known as the “King of Steeze” from the 2024 Ojude Oba festival, Macaulay stumbled over her married name before quickly correcting it, signaling her return to her maiden name.
“Annie Idi… Oh! Sorry, Annie Macaulay. Hey, single ladies!” she said, prompting cheers and applause from the audience.
This public confirmation follows earlier signs in March 2025, when Macaulay reappeared on social media nearly two months after 2Baba announced their separation.
She signed off with her full name, “Annie Uwana Macaulay,” notably dropping “Idibia,” which had been a significant part of her social media identity.
The couple, who have two children together, officially ended their marriage in January 2025 after 2Baba disclosed their separation.
Since then, the musician has been seen proposing to Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, further fuelling speculation about an impending wedding, with Osawaru recently introduced to 2Baba’s family and kinsmen in Benue State.
Macaulay‘s public statement on Sunday marks a new chapter in her personal life, as she embraces her maiden name and signals a shift in her relationship status to the public.
