A herdsman identified as Mohammed Ibrahim, had on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, been remanded in prison by a magistrate’s court sitting at Isabo, Abeokuta in Ogun State for purportedly murdering his friend, Abdullahi Saliu, after hitting him with a stick for allegedly having sex with his wife.
The prosecutor, Corporal Moshood Hammed, told the court that the accused committed the alleged offence on October 11 at Ojubu Village in Abeokuta.
“The accused and the deceased were close friends and lived together in the same apartment.
“When the accused learned that the deceased slept with his wife while he was away from home, a fight ensued between the two men, which led to the murder of Saliu,” the prosecutor said.
According to Hammed, the offence was contrary to Sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Ogun State.
A one count charge of murder was brought up against the accused by the court who paid deaf ears to his plea since he had no legal representation.
Ibrahim had been remanded in Oba prison by the magistrate, Mr. Martins Akinyemi,pending on the advice by the Director of Public Prosecution’s advice.
Akinyemi also adjourned the case until Wednesday,February 11, 2015, for further mention.
