Must read

As the people of Delta await the judgement that will determine who will pilot the affairs of the state for the next four years, Police officers were deployed on Monday, October 26, 2015 to the Delta State Multi-Door Courthouse DSMDC, Asaba, which is the venue of the judgment of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

The chairman of the three-man tribunal, Justice Nasir Gunmi and his colleagues arrived the tribunal at about 8.30 am, escorted by siren-blowing security agents and went straight to their chamber.

Olorogun O’tega, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is challenging the victory of the governor, Senator Ifeanyi‎ Okowa, of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the April 11, 2015 elections.

Labour Party governorship candidate, Chief Great Ogboru, is also contesting Okowa’s election.

Police officers and operatives of the Department of State Services screened people into the court room, unfortunately, many were denied entry due to the small capacity of the court room. Preference was given to lawyers, journalists and party officials, who properly identified themselves.

Senator James Manager representing Delta South Senatorial district, chair, PDP in the state, Chief Edwin Uzor‎ and his Labour Party counterpart, Chief Tony Ezeagu are presently seated in the court room.
