A four-month-old female baby was on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 crushed to death by a heavy duty truck, carrying crates of soft drinks after she fell from her mother’s back from a commercial motorcycle at the Okorodafe Roundabout in Ughelli, Delta State.
One of the eyewitnesses disclosed that the mother of the baby identified simply as Ese has been trying to adjust the wrapper with which she tied the baby to her back while the bike rider locally known as Okada moved. Unfortunately, the baby fell down from her back.
According to Vanguard, another witness identified as Efemena Okiemute, said that the baby fell on the middle of the road and was immediately crushed by the truck, which was directly behind the Okada.
Meanwhile, officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Ughelli Command were seen clearing the remains of the dead baby from the scene of the tragic occurrence.
