A graduate of Law from the University of Lagos, the on-air personality was born with sickle cell anaemia. She started These Genes Project to raise awareness on the condition and provide help for people who suffer from the anaemia.
Tosyn and Aurélien Boyer got married in Lagos in November 2015. They had their white wedding in France soon after.
Tosyn previously hosted the morning show at Top Radio FM.
She started her on-air-personality duties with Tee-A at Eko FM. She was also an intern at Cool FM where she hosted the Fun Hour Show on Saturdays.
Tosyn joined Top Radio after her youth service in 2009 as the only female handling a morning show.
She was nominated for several awards, including Future Awards, ELOY Awards, and Best of Nollywood.
Following news of her death, fans and colleagues alike have taken to social media to express their shock.
I have just received the sad news of the passage of Tosyn Bucknor (Area Mama) due to complications from Sickle cell.
As a healthcare professional, I am well aware of the challenges of people living with sickle cell.
Tosyn fought a good fight.

I first met Tosyn Bucknor on air way back in 2001/2 at Coolfm's 'Fanta Fun Hour.' Her energy levels and positive attitude towards life was infectious. She pursued her dreams to the Max and never let her battles with Sickle cell Anemia slow her down.

I wish when people died people got around to talk about the things the departed loved. Tosyn Bucknor loved the colour green, she always wore something that had green in it. She loved networking. I remember her initiative S.H.A.R.E. We will miss her zest for life. Death stings.

Tosyn Bucknor! This hurts, again. But I’m glad I met you. One of the very few media personalities in Nigeria that I looked up to. Her humility humbles you. She was an Icon but very accessible and willing to help. We have lost a gem. Rest is peace, Tosyn. Just rest. 😨😓😓😓 pic.twitter.com/Stz4jDdahs

This is life. Here today real & moving, gone 2mrw just a memory & data on earth. Tosyn Bucknor is preaching to us in her death: That we always remember our time here's short. That we find & live daily for what matters most & ultimately in peace with our Maker. Adieu #TosynBucknor pic.twitter.com/kWUIy3Yrxd

Until her death, the OAP who also doubled as a Vlogger, was an employee of Inspiration FM where she hosted her own morning talk show.
