KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Police Command has arrested Ibrahim Musa, a 22-year-old, accused of stabbing his mother to death at Rimin Kebe Quarters in Ungogo local government area.
The suspect was found in a criminal hideout in Dawakin Tofa local government area after a manhunt.

In a statement released on Friday, May 5, 2023, SP Abdullahi Haruna, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect had confessed to the crime. Musa will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
According to a source, the suspect had not visited his mother for over a year before the tragic incident.
He had been living with his father in Kurna due to his mental health condition. On the day of the murder, around 5:30 pm, Musa was seen near his mother’s residence.
“The moment he entered he just asked of her, she was not around but he demanded she be called because she was in the neighborhood,” the source explained.
When Musa’s mother arrived and opened the door, the suspect allegedly attacked her with a knife.
The source, who witnessed the attack, stated that Musa also tried to attack him but was unsuccessful. The suspect then discarded the knife and fled the scene.
The source revealed that the deceased mother used to visit Musa whenever she had a nightmare about him.
During one such visit, which occurred during the month of Ramadan, the suspect chased his mother away. She hid in a room while people in the area restrained Musa. That incident marked the last time she saw her son before her tragic death.
