Unknown gunmen have opened fire on petty traders in Kaduna village, killing 14 people including a 70-year-old man.
Residents said the gunmen opened fire on people who were buying and selling at Sabon Birni Deji market in Igabi local government on Monday afternoon.
According to Abubakar, the gunmen stormed the market and shot at random in the market, killing the 14 people and injuring many others.
The secretary of Miyetti Allah in Kaduna State, Mallam Iliyasu Aliyu, told our correspondent that herdsmen were the main target of the gunmen.
“They stormed the market on Monday afternoon, shooting and killing people. Some of the survivors are now receiving treatment at a private hospital,” he said.

Few weeks ago, there was a clash between some army personnel and some unknown youths which led to the killing of six people.
The siege on Gidan Waya, a community hosting the Kaduna State College of Education, was as a result of the killing of the two military men, whose weapons were also taken away by gunmen.
A resident who identify himself as Bulus said the gunmen attacked the the colonel and one soldier at a filling station where they had stopped to fuel their car.
“As they were there, unknown gunmen from nowhere opened fire on them, killed a colonel and a corporal. Another soldier was also shot in the hand but he survived it.
“Right now, thousands of security men have barricaded the community. No car is allowed to come in, neither is allowed to go out. Cars from Abuja, Jos, Kaduna and Kafanchan were forced to return because there is no road. We don’t know what to do,” the resident said.
