Seven masked gunmen have kidnapped a Chinese project manager, Mr. Cui Fu Long X, in Toto, headquarters of Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
According to reports, the gunmen had stormed the project site at Adadu road in Toto, shooting sporadically into the air while terrified workers scampered away for safety.
Speaking on the incident, the state focal person in charge of the Millennium Development Goals, sponsors of the state water project, Dr. Salisu Raj, said the firm handling the water project, CCGC Nigeria Limited, were yet to make an official report about the kidnapping to him.
He however admitted that the MDGs in the state had received an “unofficial report” that the Chinese expatriate was kidnapped and taken to an undisclosed destination but denied knowledge of any ransom, adding that the CCGC had not informed him about any ransom.
Confirming the incident, the police public relations officer, Nasarawa state command, Umaru Ismaila, said the kidnappers had invaded the site and kidnapped the Chinese expatriate as reported.
He added that the police had started a through investigation into the case.
