2 Medical Doctors Kidnapped In Cross River

Two medical doctors have been kidnapped in Cross River State on Saturday, November 19, 2022, the Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Calabar branch, Felix Archibong has said.

While the police are yet to comment on the issue, he explained that the incident happened in the Akampa Local Government Area of the State.

The incident which is coming a few days after nine people were kidnapped in the same axis has left many in fear especially as the axis is the only exit and entry route to the state capital by land.

He called on security agencies as well as the state government to do all they can to rescue the victims as kidnapping them will have a negative impact on health care delivery.

Imo: Gunmen Kill Traditional Ruler And His 2 Guests In Oguta LGA

Gunmen in their numbers on Monday, November 14, 2022, invaded the Obudi Agwa community in Oguta LGA of Imo State killing the monarch of the community and his two guests.

Daily Post gathered that the hoodlums stormed the palace of the community custodian of culture and tradition, Eze Assor, Udi of Obudi Agwa, and killed him and two others before leaving.

Speaking on the ugly development, Hon Obinna Jumbo, the coordinator of Agwa Development Centre said the incident happened this morning around 9 am.

He pointed out that the assailants arrived in two white hummer buses and three motorcycles.

The community leader who was close to tears while fielding questions from Daily Post explained that the bodies of the traditional ruler and two others who were holding meetings with the monarch had been deposited at the mortuary.

Another community source who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that the gunmen were said to have executed the attack in two locations and left the community unchallenged.

He said the number of those killed could not be ascertained yet as the sad incident which shattered peace and tranquillity in Agwa community left residents shivering with most of the prominent personalities fleeing to town for fear of being killed by the rampaging unknown gunmen.

As at the time of press, the Imo Police Command spokesperson, Michael Abattam, a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, was yet to speak on the killings.

Anambra: Soldiers Killed As Gunmen Attack Governor Soludo’s Hometown

Gunmen attacked the Isuofia community of Aguata Local Government Area, where the governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo hails from in the early hours of Saturday.

Sources said no fewer than two soldiers and four of the attacking hoodlums died in a fierce gun battle between the gunmen and soldiers stationed in the community on Saturday, November 12, 2022.

According to a source, the hoodlums first attacked the soldiers at an army checkpoint and killed two of them before the army personnel gave them a chase and neutralised four of the assailants in the process.

Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, confirmed the incident, and the state’s Commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu, also confirmed the story in a statement.

Ikenga said Police operatives have been deployed to the scene, and that normalcy has been restored in the area, while Nwosu urged Indigenes to alert security officials when they notice security breaches.

Nwosu said: “A gang of gunmen struck the Nigerian Army checkpoint at Afor-Uzo Junction, Isuofia, this morning. Unfortunately for the hoodlums, they met their Waterloo.

“Our gallant and alert security agents who gave them a hot chase immediately returned fire and neutralised four of the gang members in a fierce exchange of shootings. Their Toyota Avenza with which they launched the deadly operation was recovered.”

He further added: “The government of Anambra State wishes to reassure the people of their safety, especially during this yuletide season. If you see something; please say something to help our vigilant security agents protect you better. “
