BREAKING: APC Chairman Abducted In Edo

Suspected herdsmen have abducted chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ugu Ward 9, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, Godwin Aigbogun.

He was seized on the way from his farm in Ologbo-nugu on Monday, July 18, 2022.

An APC chieftain in Ugu, who spoke in confidence, said asociates of the chairman informed him of the development.

Jennifer Iwegbu, the Edo deputy public relations officer, PPRO, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, confirmed the incident.

Iwegbu said: “Edo State Police Command, on 18/07/2022, at about 20:52hrs, received a complaint from Godwin Erhahon of Ologbo-unu Village in Orhionmwon LGA of Edo State, that his brother, Godwin Aigbogun, of the same village, was suspected to have been kidnapped and whisked into the bush by hoodlums.

“On receipt of the information, a team of operatives from the command’s crack team, anti-kidnapping, and cyber crime unit immediately swung into action, mobilised to the scene, and embarked on aggressive bush combing, with the aim of rescuing the victim unhurt and possibly arrest or decimate the suspected kidnappers.

“While the operatives are establishing the location of the kidnappers, the Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, urged the public to remain calm. So that police’s efforts to rescue the victim and possibly arrest the kidnappers will not be jeopardised.”
